Creating identities, being part of clubs and teams and forging bonds with other students are fundamental building blocks to an enriched student experience. To date however, the link between sport participation on campus and student retention rates has not been clearly defined.

UniAnalytics (UA) is a world first company who have been working with over 30 universities in Australia and the UK to explore the link between student sport participation and the risk of dropping out of university.

They have been able to create an algorithmic predictor, allowing the prediction of a score based on the student’s activity, how much they are in danger of leaving, or how their academic performance is tracking, with the major focus on retention.

Their results have shown that sport is very important factor in student retention.
