The University of Western Australia was established in 1911 thanks largely to the visionary efforts of The Honourable Sir John Winthrop Hackett, UWA’s first Chancellor and founding benefactor.

Over 100 years later, with a history of generous support from countless donors – who have all helped UWA pursue excellence in research and teaching for the benefit of the community – the legacy of that founding gift has embedded a culture of philanthropy into the very fabric of our University.

By supporting the University, you are investing in the enquiring minds of tomorrow's leaders, in cutting-edge research addressing global challenges, in community enrichment projects and in academic leadership, scholarships and access programs to ensure our students fulfil their academic potential.
